By way of professional background, I am a senior manager (trained as investment and project manager with focus at real estate and related businesses) with 14+ years of work experience in emerging markets.
I grew up in Almaty, Kazakhstan and received my first comprehensive Master of Public Administration degree at the Kazakhstan Institute of Management, Economics and Strategic Research in Almaty in 1998, followed by MBA course at Maastricht School of Management (The Netherlands) in 2002, Master of Project Management at George Washington University, (ESI, PMP programs) in 2010. I studied as non-graduate visiting student at Applied Language Institute of UMKC (University of Missouri, KC, MO, USA) and Environmental Economics Course at Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY, USA.
My first job was with the NCH Holdings INC, NY based $3.5B (OPIC backed) investment fund, which was among the first few and largest investors in the securities, real estate markets and industrial projects in Kazakhstan between 1997 and 2004. I managed the full scope of activites of the group and helped investors to successfully exit the market upon maturity of the funds.
Among other businesses I managed the following real estate related companies:
- CRE (Capital Partners Group), 3 class A office buildings in Almaty
- KBS Realty, property portfolio management of 11 retail, hospitality and office buildings throughout Almaty
- K.E.G. (mortgage brokers), served majority of the banks in builidng of the mortgage portofolio and subsequent sale of these to the National Mortgage Corp, in the course of this activity we managed over 40 transactions per month with total value of $10M
- ZAO N.A. (asset management), first public-private partnership established with the Municipality of Almaty to operate and professionally manage government owned properties
Prior to coming to Georgia in 2008 I lived in Ukraine for 4 years, 2 of which I worked on a variety of investment projects throughout Black Sea shore (Crymea region). At the same time I have done a number of individual projects in Almaty and Astana, all of which are related to property development (residential housing, hospitality and office buildings), in which I have managed a full development cycle (acquisition, design, refurbishment/construction, lease/sale).
I’ve lived in Georgia for 2 years now, where I have successfully managed to complete Radisson Iveria Hotel in Tbilisi (250 room, 4+ star hotel) and developed and managed construction of the second Radisson Medea in Batumi (167 rooms), which is due to be open in mid May 2011.
My duties at Development Solutions LLC in Georgia were not limited to the traditional CEO function as I have managed investors, banks, government and public relations on behalf of DS (as member of Silk Road Group), though since May 2010 I’m focusing on my duties of agency function and investor relations. I am a father of of a lovely girl, Dorothea, (1 y.o.) and son, Darin (3.5 y.o.)
